Zi-Ming Xie was born in Shanghai on 3 November 1973. He suffers from congenital cerebral paralysis with total paralysis of all four extremities. In 1983 he first showed an interest in mouth painting. He has taught himself everything he knows about painting. Endowed with a will of iron, he made rapid progress. The mouth painter has already contributed to several group exhibitions in Shanghai.
