Wender Ferreira dos Santos

Wender Ferreira dos Santos was born in Jaraguá on 3 May 1987. He has been a paraplegic since the age of 14 after being hit by a car on his way to work.
After the accident, he almost didn’t leave the house because he struggled to sit in a wheelchair for long periods of time. That is why he stayed away from school for many years. When the accident happened, he was in grade 7 of primary school.
Thanks to the support of his mother and friends, he now has autonomy despite his limitations that seemed impossible for someone in his condition at the time. He returned to school in 2010.
Thanks to his strong school results, he received a 100% scholarship to ProUni, a private university. He wanted to study social sciences in college, but this was not possible because of his mobility problem.
After these events, he decided to take some time off. However, he soon realised that idleness bored him.
He found painting through an encounter with the Brazilian Scholarship Holder Gilverson DOS SANTOS DIAS.
