Tsukiji Mieko

Mieko Tsukiji was born in Saitama on 8 August 1964. Her schooling comprises primary school, secondary school, high school and college. Even before the was disabled Ms Tsukiji received private tuition in painting from Mr Hada and in 1983 was awarded a fourth-degree certificate in calligraphy. In 1984 she obtained permission to teach a secondary schools. One year later she was appointed director of social welfare. After a tragic mountain accident in 1989 her arms and legs were paralysed. In March 1992 she made her first attempts at mouth painting. Later she was again taught by Mr Hada. The talented mouth painter has had several group exhibitions and a person exhibition. Flowers are her favourite source of motifs.
