Ross Stonham was born in Auckland on 8 February, 1958. He worked in the EDP department of an insurance company until 19 June 1989, when he had a swimming accident. He has been a tetraplegic since then. Mr Stonham is interested in sport and painting. In 1992 he started to paint using his mouth and has received private lessons from Tom Bryan since 1993. Mr Stonham has contributed to the Bruce Hopkins Art Award Exhibition and will be a contestant in the New Zealand Handicapped Sports Championships.
