Jennie Sjöström (Bäckman) was born on December 10, 1979 and has suffered from arthrogryposis multiplex congenita ever since. As a result, she has no use of her hands, arms and feet. She was forever fond of expressing herself with words and pictures and has always written and painted with her mouth. In 1996 she started to attend a course for aesthetics at a school for continuing education where she became quite aware of her desire to work as a "full-time painter" in the future. Various further education courses in art and painting followed as a result. The artist paints mainly with ink as well as watercolors. Her landscapes and abstract motifs, depicting mostly human figures in various forms and colors, have already fascinated many exhibition visitors.
