Born on 17 January 1957 in Cucuta (Colombia). At the age of 17 he had a swimming accident, resulting in quadriplegia due to a fracture of the C3, C4 and C5 vertebrae. The AMFPA artists Meliton Rodriguez and Jesus Olinto inspired him to start mouthpainting and he found a possibility to - in his own words - "turn his cruel fate into a colourful dream".
