Michael Platzer was born on 10 October 1962 in Lewistown. A diving accident in 1975 left him tetraplegic. An artist friend of his taught him the basics of painting. His enthusiasm for painting has helped him overcome all obstacles. He is a highly gifted oil painter and watercolorist and is interested in a wide variety of themes: from landscapes to lighthouses, from woodpeckers to character studies. Every one of his paintings also contains a spiritual element that emphasises the artist's triumph. His works have been on display across Pennsylvania. One of his paintings was used by the Christopher-Reeve Foundation and selected as motif for a holiday card in the Humanity Holiday Card series. He is also a talented Web designer and has designed his own and numerous other Web pages.
