Meneses Valderrama Maira Isabel

Maira Isabel Meneses Valderrama was born on 5 November 1976. Prior to her being involved in a serious car accident on 2 June 1996, she occupied a leading position in TV productions in Chile. Ever since the accident, however, she has been paralysed from the neck down and unable to move her arms or legs. Shortly after the tragic accident, she made her first attempts at painting with her mouth. She took such pleasure in it that she immediately enrolled in an oil painting course given by the director of a well-known art school in her region. The artist quickly made significant progress. From 1999 onwards, Maira Isabel Meneses Valderrama has been supported as a scholarship holder by the Association. Since 2011, she has been an Associate Member of AMFPA.

Today, Maira Isabel Meneses Valderrama uses the tempera painting technique. Her favourite themes include people and portraits. The mouth painter has been able to present her works to a wide public in numerous nation-wide exhibitions.
