- Colombia
María Alejandra Muñoz Zambrano was born on 16 December 1998 in San Cristóbal, Venezuela. Since her birth, she has lived with arthrogryposis multiplex, a physical disability that impairs her joints. Her birth parents did not wish to raise her, so she was brought up by her maternal grandmother. She is the youngest of one biological sister and five foster siblings.
She completed her school education at the age of 16 at the Cipriano Castro music school. Aged 19, she became a Colombian citizen and moved to Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, Colombia.
From an early age, she learned to do things with her feet and her mouth as a result of her disability. She showed a great interest in music early on and began to play piano at the age of eight, and gave concerts in various districts of San Cristóbal. At the age of nine, she joined the national symphonic children’s choir of Táchira, where she sang for three years.
In addition to music, she developed a talent for digital art. Aged 16, she began to produce drawings on her computer, and aged 18, she began to draw and paint more frequently. At the age of 20, she decided to professionalise her art and created a website to publish her drawings. She also began courses in English, digital marketing and graphic design, areas in which she still works today. She currently teaches children English and creates content and advertising for her website and for others in the area of digital marketing and graphic design.
