Tiia Järvpold was born on 23 February 1967. Since birth she suffers from infantile cerebral palsy, which means that she is unable to use her arms and hands. When she was only a little girl she started to use her legs and toes to play with dolls. Later she used her feet to draw and write. After attending primary and secondary school she studied psychology and therapeutic pedagogy at Tartu University. In 2006 she became a board member of the newly created "South Estonian association of families with special needs". In 1986 a documentary film was produced entitled "Wheelchair Dance", where she played herself. In 2001 the foot painting artist wrote a book about her life. She is very intent on continuing her education in painting and art.
