Patricia Jackson was born in Townsville, Australia, on 23 August 1962 .
Because her mother had taken thalidomide during pregnancy, Patricia was born without arms. As a result, her lungs and heart were also severely affected.
During her childhood, she spent a lot of time in hospitals and underwent multiple heart surgery. It was not until she was 12 years old, after more heart surgery, that she had enough strength and energy to learn to walk.
Patricia attended school until 12th grade.
Patricia is married, has children and leads a very active life. Her hobbies include fishing, swimming and photography as well as painting since 2015.
She visits schools and other institutions across the country to tell her story. Her aim is to ensure that people of all ages are open to others who are different and that bullying and discrimination no longer have a place in society.
