Born in Boyolali, Central Java on 27 July 1968. In June 1979 he was very seriously injured when he fell from a moving train. Both his arms had to be amputated. In 1995 he first tried to paint using his foot. He is an autodidact and in 1991 attended a one-year course at an art school in New Zealand. The foot painter prefers to paint watercolours.
