Born on 19 April 1960 in Udine. Lorena Guarise suffers from multiple encephalopathy (cerebral disease) and can neither use arms nor legs. Already at an early age she showed a profound interest in painting but due to her physical handicap she saw no possibility of putting her own ideas into practice. It was not until 1995 that she started to paint with the mouth when she received support from an art professor. Her pieces reflect real, surreal and informative themes painted in vivid colours. In the meantime the mouthpainter has had a number of personal exhibitions.
