Garcia Giraldo Alcides

Alcídes García Giraldo was born into a modest farming family on 26 June 1976 in Roncesvalles, Tolima. Because of limited opportunities, he only attended primary school, learning merely to read and write. At the age of 23, Alcídes García Giraldo had an accident with a firearm which caused a spinal cord injury and made him tetraplegic. He moved to Ibagué Tolima, where he met the mouth painter (and Scholarship Holder) Fabián Castillo Ortiz, who encouraged him to start painting with his mouth.
