Domingos Ferreira Silva was born on 17 November 1971 in Aragarças, a town in the Federal State of Goiás, Brazil. He came into the world with atrophy in both arms and hands. Even as a child he did everything with his feet. Early on, around the age of 7, he started to draw and paint. He has now lived alone in a quiet quarter of Aragarças for a long time. He carries out all the necessary tasks in the household himself. His mother, who lives nearby, helps him with the difficult tasks. Since childhood he has been known by the nickname "Dupé". Dupé means "with the feet" in Portuguese. Apparently, it is not only his family and friends that call him this, but everyone around him. Apart from his passion for painting, he plays electric keyboard with his feet. He has always been surrounded by art in some way or another. He is now in his 3rd year of studying social work at university, and teaches the subjects "Movement therapy" and "Emotional disturbances" 20 hours a week on behalf of the district council. Domingos Ferreira Silva enjoys a high level of recognition in his region, and has already participated in over 70 exhibitions.
