Samaneh Ehsani Nia was born on 7 May 1984 in Ghaen, Iran. Before the car accident which led to her disability, her interests were directed towards art, photography, theatre and moaragh, a type of Persian mosaic art. After the accident, she lived in a care home for a long time. Despite lots of health problems, she accepted her new situation and began her education in social sciences in 2007. Together with her artist friends, she began to paint using her mouth in 2008. In 2012, she began academic art lessons with Mr Hadi Taghizadeh and Mr Mahmood Hosseini and, by 2018, she had had four solo exhibitions. In 2011, she left the hospice, moved back in with her parents and is preparing to live on her own in three years' time with their support. Samaneh also has other cultural interests, such as writing poetry. She is a member of the management of the disabled theatre group Children of Rain.
