Perla de Fátima Cerittos Orduño was born on 9 February 1999 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa (Mexico). She was born premature, as her mother had a bad fall in the bath. After the birth, she had two respiratory arrests, and consequently infantile cerebral palsy was diagnosed.

As she could neither sit nor crawl at the age of 8 months, she was taken to a centre of APAC in Mexico City for rehabilitation and speech therapy. She stayed there until she was 2, and then came back to Los Mochis for further therapy. She cannot move her legs and hands in a co-ordinated manner, and sits in a wheelchair.

In spite of her adverse circumstances, she attended pre-school, primary school, special vocational school CAM, and since October 2011 the local art vocational school, where she started mouth painting. She also receives regular painting lessons from the VDMFK scholarship holder and mouth painter Lidia de Jesús Cháidez López.

The colourful works of the artist reflect her immeasurable joie de vivre. She has also participated in several collective exhibitions.
