Patricia Bastiaanse was born on 16 February 1956. She suffers from arthrogryposis. The disease affects her arms, hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips, feet and knees. Patricia Stork is only able to walk to a limited degree because she also suffers from osteoarthritis. When she left boarding school at the age of 11, she went to a school in Hull where she met Katrina Gardner (scholarship holder) who paints with her feet. Recently she visited Princess Quay where she met two other mouth painting artists, among them David Cawthorne (Associate Member), who told her about VDMFK. She already enjoyed painting when she was a child. Patricia Bastiaanse paints in oils and acrylics and her paintings encompass still lives, sunsets and many other themes. She typed her application letter with the mouth.
