Barrera Rebeca

Born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic on 13 September 1959. Rebecca Barrera has suffered from cerebral paralysis with spastic quadriplegia ever since her childhood. She took up mouth painting in 1992, attended art lessons with a recognised art professor for three months and then studied intensively on her own to perfect her skills. In 1993 she had her first personal exhibition at a gallery in Puerto Plata. The picture show was a great success with the visitors and the media. The artist prefers to paint tropical flowers, the sky, seagulls and the sea.
