Alvarez Rojas Maria Paz

María was born on 14 September 1961 with arthrogryposis, a condition that affects the muscles and bones of the limbs. From childhood, she adapted by learning to use her mouth for daily activities — it has become her way of painting, writing, and eating. With the aid of a stylus, she can also use her computer and mobile phone with ease.

Her passion for creativity extends beyond painting. Since 1992, María has been a member of a theatre group, participating in more than twenty productions. Her journey as an artist began in 1989, when a friend — a painting instructor — encouraged her to explore art. Two years later, she completed her first works, marking the beginning of a lifelong dedication to painting.
