The versatility of a talented foot painter

Xiao Feng Gui was born on February 17, 1975 in Qianjin Village, in the province of Zhejiang. As a child, he lost his arms through an electric shock. He quickly learned to write with his feet and take care of himself. With the immersion in art, he found his own luck in calligraphy, painting and seal engraving. It took him 12 years to learn how to engrave seals. A long time of practice to perfect his art with a brush and engraving tools. In 1995, he completed his visual arts education at the Xiwang institute in Hainan. He was taught by teachers of the Chinese Academy of Arts. Today, his works are trusted by people from China and abroad. His progressive, tireless pursuit of advancement was subject of many awards and media reports.

He appreciates the company of his wife Fan Yan, who is his greatest and constant supporter. He says: “The biggest regret in my life is that I owe my wife a hug. Most people have hands to manage their lives, but I have lost my arms. I can only use my feet to which I owe my second life”.
