Festival of Lights

The annual Festival of Lights took place in Berlin from October 6th to 15th, 2023. The baroque forms of the Berlin Cathedral were both an invitation and a challenge for the participating artists. Their colorful images were projected onto the outline of one of the city’s most important landmarks using lighting technology. With this light art, various art forms and motifs were shown to the residents and numerous visitors. Particular focus was placed on human values such as uniqueness, dignity, respect and acceptance, because these values represent the basis for everyone to be better off in a diverse society.

The two well-known German mouth painters Thomas Kahlau and Lars Höllerer also took part in the festival. Her colorful works are called “Mohnblumenwiese” and “Für Dich. Ein Blumenstrauß voll von Glaube – Liebe – Hoffnung”. They were switched on continuously every minute with eight other works of art in the evening from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and made the Berlin Cathedral shine in a spectacular way.
