Pedro Jose Benitez Alvarez

Pedro José Benítez Álvarez was born on 8 January 1996 in Betulia, Antioquia (Colombia). He experienced a happy childhood. He completed primary and secondary school through in-person education. In 2010, he underwent surgery due to an abscess near the spinal cord, followed by a second operation on the upper cervical spine. The result was tetraplegia – a complete loss of mobility. Only after an intensive period of rehabilitation was he able to regain control of his head and neck. In the years that followed, he devoted himself to artistic work – initially in ceramic decoration, later in painting. His artistic career gained momentum from 2018 onwards: he participated in several nationwide competitions, and his works were shown in group exhibitions.
