Mr Joseph Lockington was born in Solihull on 21 March 1997.
In 2012, at the age of 14, he suffered a spinal cord infarction, which left him paralysed from the neck down and unable to breathe on his own.
He took up mouth painting in April 2020 during the first Covid 19 lockdown after his sisters encouraged him to take up his former hobby again.
His passion for art came back after painting a “paint-by-numbers” lion and enjoying every moment of it. Since then he has been practising drawing and painting with different types of media – his favourite being acrylics. Mr Lockington has a sense of achievement when he looks back at artworks he has created. For years he would not have thought it possible.
He likes to paint landscapes and portraits of musicians such as David Bowie.
