Reymundo Manuel González de la O was born on 15 March 1972 in Guadalajara as the youngest of eleven siblings. His mother died when he was six years old, and he took on a responsible role within the family by caring for his siblings while his father worked. At the age of 14, his body began to weaken and in 1994 he was diagnosed with Becker muscular dystrophy. Three of his older brothers have already died as a result of this illness. Despite increasing physical limitations, he attempted to lead an independent life. He worked in various jobs, including a seven-year period at the Guadalajara bus station, before his health problems forced him to give up work. In order to remain financially independent, Reymundo opened a grocery shop, which he had to close in 2000 due to his increasing disability. Later, he worked as a street vendor in order to make ends meet. Through a friend whom he met through a Christian association, he was inspired to take up mouth painting. In 2021, he then officially began attending painting classes twice a week.
