Dirk Bennewitz

Dirk Bennewitz was born on 25 August 1970 in Hoyerswerda. He completed training to become an engineer, worked for 4 years in this profession, before working as a salesman in a hardware store. In May 1995, he had a swimming accident, which left him paraplegic from the neck downwards (at the level of C5).
Since Dirk Bennewitz had already enjoyed drawing and painting before his accident, he continued to be interested in the art of painting. For this reason, he has watched videos about mouth painting for many years. His partner gave him the final impetus to try it himself. Since then, he has been painting with self-constructed mouth sticks, with charcoal, acrylics and oil paints.
He lives with his father in a house in Hosena.
