David Young

David Young was born on 17 October 1962 in Southampton. After completing his schooling, he worked as an upholsterer and carpet fitter and was very active in sports, particularly football, tennis and darts. In 1985, a tragic swimming accident changed his life: David Young sustained severe injuries to the cervical spine and has since been tetraplegic and dependent on a wheelchair. Despite severe physical limitations, he began painting in 2023 – initially with gouache, and now with enthusiasm in oil. Inspired by his artistically gifted mother, he finds expression, joy and new perspectives on life through art.
