Moisés Lozano MARTINEZ was born on 14 January 1977 in Guadalajara in Mexico. His father developed drug problems and his mother had to raise him and his five siblings. That was why he only attended primary school and could not continue school after that. At the age of 11 he started to work. He had to go and live with his aunt. One day when he wanted to climb over a fence he fell 11 metres and suffered an injury to the spinal cord at C5. He became tetraplegic. One and a half years after his accident he became anaemic due to malnutrition and his sores became infected. For two years he suffered from a severe depression. His mother took him to the hospital, and when he looked at himself in the mirror, he told himself that he could not go on like that. He felt the desire to achieve something in life and to seize a new opportunity to change his life. He has been looking for activities that would enable him to support his family financially, e. g. selling buns and cakes in front of the church. He always thought about writing a book or start painting; painting was always in his thoughts. Thanks to his cousin, he met Saúl LOPEZ Montañez, student member of VDMFK, in January 2008. Saúl LOPEZ Montañez invited him to come painting and he made the first brush strokes with his mouth on canvas. A few months later he had the opportunity to take eight lessons with a private teacher. In January 2009 he started to take a six-month painting course every Saturday at the Cabañas cultural centre. Currently he is taking the second course there. Painting fills him with positive thoughts. He has already participated in three exhibitions. On 12 September 2009 he married.
