Born on 27 December 1963 in Alabama. Deficient limb development was the consequence of Cynthia's mother taking the medication thalidomide while pregnant. Ms. Bloom was born with only one leg and her arms are not developed above her elbows. At the tender age of two she learned to use her foot the way a so-called normal person would use his hands. Today she combs her hair, applies makeup, writes and cooks own her own - she does all of those things with her foot. Among other things she started to paint with her foot and was very enthusiastic about it right from the start.
The artist predominantly paints landscapes, sea views, animals, lighthouses and religious motifs.
