Painting Method: Mouth painter
Florin Anghel was born on 9th February 1981 in Bucharest, the capital of Rumania. In 2004, he suffered a gunshot wound which led to a vertebral fracture at the level of the C5 - C6 vertebrae, as well as to a spinal cord injury syndrome at the level of the C3 (left) - C5 (right) vertebrae. After staying at the Tetraplegic rehabilitation Centre in Toledo, in 2005 he was admitted to the Care Centre for the Physically Disabled - the C.A.M.F. – in Legánes near Madrid. At the Care Centre, he had access to painting workshops where he began to paint simple works in oils in 2005. In the course of time, the consistent progress which he made in his mouth painting enabled him to create his own paintings on the basis of photographs. In the meantime, the artist paints elements of living nature, particularly people and wild animals, with strong contrasts of light and colour, in a realistic style. This has led to his taking part in nation-wide painting contests and exhibitions.
