Short Biography
I was born on April 24, 1984 in the city of Mexico, Federal District.
I am the sixth and last child in my family. My mother, Lucia Balderas Cabrera, received four radiation sessions and various allopath treatments during her pregnancy because, by mistake, she was diagnosed by a doctor as having a tumor in the womb.
Because of this error, my development was not normal and my birth was complicated. When I was born the doctors used “forceps”, which caused a dislocation of the hip, fractures in the right femur and right clavicle and, a few days later, I was diagnosed as having a Congenital severe multiple Arthrogryposis.
My academic education initially took place at home. It wasn’t until I was nine that I was able to attend a special school where I finished my primary and high school studies. During this period, I participated in a few painting and drawing contests and, on occasion, I would win first places, certificates and awards. I later went into college but unfortunately, I was there only for one semester due to financial difficulties, plus the school lost my documents.
I later attended a private computer school thanks to a scholarship I was given, and I graduated as a graphic designer. My past education had not been artistic, even though as a child I liked drawing and painting. What has inspired me the most is painting sceneries and surreal objects.
I asked my mother and brothers to take me to the closest house of culture in order to continue learning and improving my painting techniques. This is how I was able to study in the DIF Cultural Center of Iztapalapa.
While studying, I learned about the work of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. I applied sending in my work and I am now a scholarship grantee. This scholarship will allow me to take classes and learn different techniques, purchase my material, become financially self sufficient and develop myself as an artist.
