Short Biography
The artist was born on December 21, 1943 in Kinna, Northern Sweden. In 1969 he had an accident as driver for the Swedish Crown and he was left with both his arms and legs paralyzed. With a great deal of energy and lost of talent he learned how to paint and draw with his mouth and has since then become a recognized artist.
Charles Axelsson expresses his intense relationship to the beautiful nature and landscape of Sweden in his pictures.
Some of the ideas behind his works, like Axelsson's animal pictures or the portrait of a Laplander are similar to popular effects but his works generally represent his own and very self-confident inventions. Axelssons pictures have been shown at lots of exhibitions among them in Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo.
