Short Biography
I was born on August 7, 1991 in the City of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, where I have lived my whole life.
I am the second of two siblings. When I was born, everything seemed normal. But on my sixth day after birth, my health started to change.
My parents took me to the hospital and the doctor told them that my state of health was serious, that I needed negative type blood urgently so they could perform a blood exchange transfusion, because I had a problem of incompatibility. This was due to the type of blood my parents had: my father’s was positive and my mother’s was negative.
So my struggle to live started and the result was an inevitable cerebral damage of my motor skills with a diffused cerebral lesion. Since then, I’ve had to struggle to recuperate and I periodically go to physical therapy since my disability has required this.
I have been going to the rehabilitation center of this city practically all my life. This has allowed me to be able to, at the age of 13, displace myself, as well as express myself, although with some difficulty. At the same time, I was able to study primary school and I later used the semi-traditional system for high school and preparatory.
My mother has always accompanied me everywhere and my father has always supported me. Thanks to them, I have been able to overcome obstacles and move ahead. My brother says I am very smart and feels proud of me. I love him very much and enjoy his company. One of my objectives is to become auto sufficient. This is the reason why I want to continue improving myself so I can have my own family some day.
In October of 2007 I started taking painting classes with Prof. Lidia Cháidez, who invited me to her workshop classes on a regular basis. I appreciate immensely her support because I have discovered the wonder of painting and, above all, I realized that by not been able to use my hands I am capable of painting by using a paint brush with my mouth, thus creating beautiful pictures full of magic and colors.
Prof. Lidia Cháidez is a scholarship grantee of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists and, thanks to her teachings, I also applied to become a grantee and was accepted on September 1, 2010.
Now I have the possibility of becoming a professional artist.
