Short Biography
Born on 23 March 1974 in Guariba, in the state of São Paulo, Eliana developed polio when she was 2 years old and the disease left her paralyzed from the neck down, forcing her to remain 24 hours a day in a mechanical ventilator. Since then she has lived at the Clínicas Hospital, where she has learned to read, tap on a computer keyboard, and paint – all this using her mouth.
