Erich MACHO

Date of decease: 10.02.1995
Painting Method: mouth and foot painter

Short Biography

Mr. Erich Macho was born without hands in Goldeck, Austria on November 8, 1926. He learned how to use his feet in place of his hands at a very young age.
Mr. Macho took art lessons in Salzburg and found his own personal style
early on, as a painter of the Alpine country around St. Johann in Pongau
where he lives and works. The talented artist was successful with his work. The famous mountainous and lake landscapes around St. Johann were his prefered motifs. The art historian Dr. Hiepe noted that "the viewer will see the artists gentle strength in observing nature and the representation of the mountains, valleys and lakes which are no different from the everlasting and traditional landscape painting.

What is unbelievable, from the standpoint of science and graphologically, is that there was no visible difference in Mr. Macho's sureness and writing
style whether he used his left or right foot or his mouth. His works were
bought by the state government of Salzburg. Participation in exhibitions
in Vienna, Wels, Salzburg and many cities around the world.

Mr. Macho died on Feb. 19, 1995
