Short Biography
At the age of 16, Markus Kolp had a serious moped accident, as a result of which he is paralysed from the neck down. After a lengthy period of rehabilitation, he obtained his secondary school leaving diploma, whereby his special subjects were music and art history. He could not fulfil his dream of becoming an architectural draughtsman. A few years after his accident, Markus Kolp began painting by mouth. “At first, it was only a distraction from the monotony of every day. But now it’s far more to me. It’s a self-affirmation that I can manage to create something that no one notices is by a disabled person”, he says today. With his unmistakeable talent for watercolour painting, he particularly likes painting landscapes and flowers. He has already taken part in several exhibitions. Markus Kolp has been a Scholarship Holder of AMFPA since 2004.
