Annick LECLERC
Painting Method: Mouth painter
Short Biography
Annik was born in Berkane (Morocco) on 12th January 1955. Until she fell ill in 1991, Annick led a traditional family life. She looked after her children, then aged 2 and 11, and took care of her home. Now, with tetraplegia, she is no longer able to express herself easily and lives in the “L’Hospitalet” home in Montoire, where the two foot painters Christophe Maillard and Daniel Despeignes also live. Looking back years later, Annick believes that her life was “empty” before her illness and that she has discovered a personal passion through the adventure of foot painting. For Annick, painting allows her to escape: she becomes one with her works and forgets her disability. She is conscious of the long path which still lies ahead of her. However, she is very motivated - a real fighter who is determined to forge ahead. The pastel shades she uses lend her works a very gentle character. Under the guidance of a painter, she devotes herself to her passion for four hours a week. She has had an easel made, specially adapted for her disability, in order to be able to work in her room in the near future. As well as painting, reading, computer and sometimes travel offer pleasant variety in her life. Annick deserves our full support for her determination and her courage.
