Painting Method: Mouth painter
Christine was born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, in the district of Pas-de-Calais, on 31st May 1970. Due to complications at birth, she is unable to use her arms and legs or to speak.
When she was 3, her mother taught her to read and count. In 1974, she received speech therapy at the Rehabilitation Centre of Villeneuve d’Ascq.
The staff at this institution decreed that she was not able to attend school like the other children. In 1976, her parents decided to move to the district of Nord. At the Centre of Psychotherapy in Houplines, Christine learned to use the special helmet – a saving invention! Thanks to this helmet, she was able to draw and write like everyone else. Two years later, she entered the Rehabilitation Centre of Villeneuve d'Ascq, where she attended school up to 8th grade. At the age of 14, with the help of an ergotherapist, she discovered mouth painting – a technique which she has continued using ever since. Thanks to her meeting with Serge Maudet, Christine now belongs to the big family of mouth and foot painting artists. Under the guidance of a teacher, she learns the secrets of painting – an activity which demands her greatest concentration, in order to be able to make the right movements. She likes depicting still lifes, bouquets of flowers and mountain landscapes.
